Personally I think that one of the greatest things about doing stuff independently is that you decide what goes in or what doesn't. you have very little restrictions. Maybe not porn, but if someday you feel like adding a huge walking dick on one of your stories, you know you have the freedom to do it.

I personally don't have a thing for mature stories, but that's probably just me being asexual and stuff.
In my not-so-humble-yet-honest opinion, Porn is out. As it has been said, it would attract the wrong kind of attention to ourselves (probably governmental) if we actually start building up a name (which I intend to). However, there might be exceptions.

1. If an author decides to put a sex scene in his/hers story, who am I to say "no"? It's his story, and my personal tastes (or in this particular case, lack thereof) are not relevant. On the other hand, the editor assigned to that author's team will hold full responsibility on making sure that it's not just gratuitous sex with no relevance to the plot whatsoever. The author who submits the scene might expect to be asked to tone it down a little bit. So, first rule is basically "Risqué yet classy is yay, hardcore porn is nay".

2. No sex scenes with minors.

3. I mean it.

4. Please avoid hardcore taboos such as rape and stuff. Like Cloud's hair avoids gravity, I mean; stay away from it as long as the Nomura Magical Hairspray allows you to.

In order to make this popular, we should keep this magazine as clean as we can. I don't know about you guys, but I want this to work and by that I mean "I intend to go live in UK and I don't want to be labeled as a thought-criminal per association". Any comments?

Hmmm.
In my opinion it sounds like you're aiming to make this all srs bsns and popular, but at the same time we'll be paying artist and writers with "feel good money". The truth is that you'll have a hard time keeping your staff if you're planning on doing anything other than a joke lighthearted magazine for /a/. It's just not possible for most people to spend yourself professionally in something that isn't. From an artist's point of view, the workload on these things is just pretty high. To be able to put out a small chapter a week you'd need a main artist with a few assistants, and they're probably going to be working full time. It's just not realistic to have professional expectations on a project that'll be distributed for free. At some point you'll need to compromise on a LOT of things. Either by making deadlines REAAALLY loose, or by dropping the expected quality and dropping ideas like sending already finished pages to revision and stuff.

I'm seriously gonna have to recommend not going serious mode on a free project because it will kill it. There's only so much work you can get out of people when you're paying them with "thank yous".

just my point of view on the matter, by the way. I'm in no way trying to ruin anyone's party. But in my experience, it's extremely hard to get people to participate on your project WHEN you have expectations of future profits. It's hard to retain them under such conditions. To gather people and expect them to stick around for fun would be hard if you do something to take the fun factor out of it.

Going srs business is a fucking mess (I've tried it...a few times).
But, if you (happen) to have resources I won't try to stop you.

The only profit I am honestly expecting from this is making a quality magazine. If we're lucky, we'll get some good exposition out of this summer project and maybe be able to break our way into the industry. I know I want to. But making money out of a web magazine? No, not unless we find a publishing house interested in us (and sell out), which is very unlikely.

Having said that, I don't think there is a need for me to reply to the rest.

I think you missed the point. It's not about making a profit on a project like this one. I wasn't suggesting that. (also making a profit off such a project is completely reasonable depending on how much money and work one is willing to put into it, but that's beyond the point). I was more concerned about pointing out a few very pressing problems. In my experience with projects like this one, this is the high point in interest from people willing to help that you'll get. You don't generally get more attention than what you do during the initial days. Everything goes downhill from there. That's why I suggested to start working IMMEDIATELY. Right now there's not really much going on, and I'm willing to bet one or two people already quit. Rather than discussing distribution or picking names or even proposing stories it would have been better if writers started to put a few scripts up and then artists deciding on what they would be doing and getting to it ASAP.
